Yellowhammer
The yellowhammer is red-listed in Ireland due to a decline in the breeding range and population. They are a declining resident mainly in the east and south of Ireland.
In summer, adult males are a striking yellow colour. The yellowhammer feeds mainly on cereal, and their prevalence is strongly linked to the cultivation of cereal crops. Young are fed on insects.
