Red Grouse

The red grouse nests on the ground and is a widespread but not numerous resident in Ireland. It is red-listed in Ireland due to significant declines in the breeding range.

It eats mostly heather but will also eat other things like berries, insects and different plants. It is usually be seen on the ground and only flies when startled.
