Irish Hare
The Irish hare is an endemic Irish subspecies of hare. The population is stable but with fluctuations. The Irish hare selects improved grassland over any other habitat, with rushes and hedgerows being important for cover.
Modern agricultural methods may increase mortality, particularly of young. Habitat loss and fragmentation has led to isolation of populations.
